IJf Blokker has died at the age of 95 in Den Helder, where he was born on September 2, 1930. He gained fame as Barend Servet, the character he played in the Wim T. Schippers-created VPRO programs *De Fred Haché Show*, *Barend is weer bezig*, and *Van Oekels Discohoek*, which regularly caused a stir with their absurd humor and provocative content. As Barend Servet, he also reached the Top 40 in 1973 with *Waar moet dat heen, hoe zal dat gaan*, while later he played supporting roles in series such as *Zeg 'ns AAA* and the film *Filmpje!*, as well as theater productions including *Het Koekoeksnest*. His last public appearance was in 2008.
