Drie Brusselse films in Cinémathèque Française'
Wouter Hessels is programming three Brussels films at the Cinémathèque Française as part of Bruxelles vue par..., choosing little-known titles with recognized aesthetic and historical merits. Marc Didden will present his debut, Brussels by Night, while Frank Van Passel will personally attend the screening of Manneken Pis, a film about the difficult emotional world of a Brussels newcomer. The third film, Le chantier des gosses by 101-year-old Jean Harlez, was shot in 1956 in the Marolles district and only completed in 1970 due to a lack of funding for sound reproduction. Cinema Nova subsequently restored the film in 2014.
