Noorwegen viert zijn eerste Oscar voor Beste Internationale Speelfilm met Joachim Triers 'Sentimental Value' als 'Historisch Moment'.'
With *Sentimental Value*, Joachim Trier has given Norway its first Oscar for Best International Film, an award the country had never won before. The film, which won the Grand Prix at Cannes last year and was considered the favorite in this category, was nominated in nine categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress for Renate Reinsve. In his acceptance speech, Trier quoted James Baldwin and called for political responsibility towards children. Kjersti Mo of the Norwegian Film Institute emphasized that this success is the result of years of film policy in which artistic freedom was central.
