The VERS Film Festival 2026 took place from March 12 to 15 at Lab111, where Close Your Eyes Hind by director and screenwriter Amir Zaza emerged as the big winner with three awards: Best Film, Best Screenplay, and the Audience Award. The award for Best Editing went to editor Scott Dancy for kus kus beng beng by Ollie Launspach, while Sean Louw won Best Cinematography for Wanklank by Sem Dingemans. Director Mees Peijnenburg delivered a masterclass in which he reflected on his career and emphasized the importance of the VERS Awards for his own development as the maker of Wij Waren Wolven.
