At the 44th Bergamo Film Meeting, Porte Bagage, the fiction debut of Dutch documentary filmmaker Abdelkarim El-Fassi, won the top prize of €5,000, for which the audience voted. The film follows a Dutch-Moroccan family taking their father, who suffers from dementia, on a final road trip to Morocco. El-Fassi wrote the screenplay based on personal experiences. The international jury awarded the Best Director Award of €2,000 to Thomas Stuber for The Frog and the Water. In the Close Up section, To Close Your Eyes and See Fire by Nicola von Leffern and Jakob Carl Sauer won the documentary prize, while Azza by Stefanie Brockhaus received the CGIL Jury Award.
