Breendonk, written and directed by Kevin Janssens and Filip Lenaerts, has its world premiere at Séries Mania, where the series was previously announced as part of the VRT's international New8 collaboration with seven other public broadcasters. The series follows the young Antwerp couple Elisabeth and Rik, who are separated after a failed resistance operation. Rik and his father Leon end up in the SS prison of Breendonk, and guard Vaes plays a double game by gathering intelligence for the German camp commandant while infiltrating Elisabeth's life under a false identity. The production by De Mensen, in co-production with VRT and Streamz, casts Anne-Laure Vandeputte, Jolan De Bouw, and Koen De Bouw, among others.
