Lucio Messercola has started filming De Grote Sinterklaasfilm en de Vliegende Pieten, the eighth installment in the series in which Robert ten Brink returns as Sinterklaas, Martien Meiland as Jean-Claude, and Tineke Schouten as Tante Poets. The story revolves around a severe snowstorm that hits the Netherlands during the arrival, causing a red alert to be issued and preventing the Pieten from accessing the roofs, while mysterious events simultaneously take place within the castle. Messercola films in authentic winter settings and employs new techniques to combine a modern feel with a classic atmosphere.
