The documentary *Parasisi* by Zaïde Bil and Sébastien Segers, produced by DOKMA Film, has been selected for the International Spectrum competition at Hot Docs in Toronto (April 23–May 3), where the film will have its international premiere. Bil realized *Parasisi* with a VAF Wildcard she won in 2018 for her graduation film *Memre Yu*, and the documentary explores how outsiders — from illegal gold miners to missionaries and doctors — leave deep traces in Wayana society in the Amazon rainforest, where postcolonial mechanisms remain visible in the present. The short animated film *This Is Your Captain Speaking* by Nienke Deutz has also been selected for Hot Docs, within the Shorts program.
