De Federatie van Scenaristen in Europa luidt de alarmbel over de poging van extreemrechts om de berichtgeving te controleren'
The Federation of Screenwriters in Europe (FSE), which represents nearly 10,000 screenwriters, has published the report "Right to Write: Screenwriters and the Growing Threats to Freedom of Artistic Expression in Europe," in which the organization maps out how far-right movements in more than seven EU member states are systematically undermining artistic freedom. Parties such as Fidesz, Fratelli d'Italia, and Smer are placing loyalists at public broadcasters, while ideologically reforming cultural institutions and seeking to cut funding for public broadcasters—which finance 55% of European TV fiction. The most alarming phenomenon remains the chilling effect: screenwriters and producers preemptively censor themselves, with controversial stories being cut short in the development phase before formal censorship is applied.
