Mariinka wint publieksprijs op CPH:DOX'
Mariinka by Pieter-Jan De Pue, which portrays the front-line town of Mariinka in eastern Ukraine after ten years of filming on 16mm, won both the Audience Award at CPH:DOX and the Jury Award at DOCVILLE. The documentary follows young Ukrainians whose lives have been shaped by more than a decade of war in the Donbas region, featuring a boxing prodigy becoming a military paramedic, a girl smuggling across the front lines, and two brothers fighting each other on opposite sides of the front. Through letters and video calls, the film explores how political conflicts can transcend even blood ties. Dalton Distribution is bringing Mariinka to Belgian cinemas on April 29.
