Voorspellingen voor Cannes 2026: Hollywoodstudio's blijven weg; Pedro Almodóvar, Nicolas Winding Refn en andere auteurs zullen de line-up domineren'
For the 79th edition of Cannes, whose official selection will be announced on April 9, festival director Thierry Frémaux does not expect major Hollywood studios, as they are becoming increasingly reluctant towards festivals where their films might be dismissed by critics. Consequently, the program relies on European auteur filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar with "Bitter Christmas," Nicolas Winding Refn with "Her Private Hell," Pawel Pawlikowski with "1949," and Cristian Mungiu with "Fjord," while Hirokazu Kore-eda and Ryusuke Hamaguchi present new films from Asia. The American entries are limited to James Gray's "Paper Tiger" and Jane Schoenbrun's "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma."
