At the request of the producer, director Eddy Terstall has edited an adapted version of his film *Land van Johan* for broadcast on the NPO, in which nudity, jokes, and football discussions about Johan Cruyff have been removed to prevent a financial deficit. Pathé Thuis is releasing the unedited theatrical version. Terstall states that criticism of the film—which also came from newspapers in the Randstad regarding a supposedly dominant male perspective and an excessive amount of football—is barely felt outside the Randstad, because he noticed during a tour of 43 cities that audiences there reacted open-mindedly to the same content.
