Lukas Dhont's third feature film, Coward, has been selected for the Official Competition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 12-23), marking his third appearance at the festival that previously awarded Girl and Close. The film follows Pierre, a young Belgian soldier in the First World War who meets Francis, a morale booster, at the front. Dhont once again co-wrote the screenplay with Angelo Tijssens, while Frank Van den Eeden handled the cinematography and Alain Dessauvage the editing. Michiel Dhont produced the film through The Reunion, in co-production with Versus, Lumen, and Topkapi Films, with support from the VAF/Filmfonds and Screen Flanders.
