Wijzigingen in de Oscar-regels: strengere aanpak van AI, acteurs kunnen meerdere nominaties in dezelfde categorie krijgen en de criteria voor internationale films worden uitgebreid'
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has approved new rules for the 99th Oscars in 2027, under which actors can henceforth receive multiple nominations in the same category if their performances are among the top five voters, partially neutralizing "category fraud." In the writing categories, screenplays must be written exclusively by humans, while the Academy reserves the right to request additional information regarding the use of generative AI. The international feature film category is being expanded so that non-English-language films can qualify via awards at six approved festivals, including Cannes and Venice, without national selection—a route that could have previously spared films such as Justine Triet's "Anatomy of a Fall."
