Tatjana Simic returned after decades as the older Kees Flodder in the new spin-off series, initially struggling with the question of how this character could still speak and move credibly after thirty years. She regularly asked the director for guidance and felt in retrospect that the older Kees could have been even bolder. Despite the unfamiliarity caused by a new cast and locations, she experienced the atmosphere as authentically Flodder. Simic also intervened in the script to protect younger actresses from expected online criticism, as she considers current social norms on the internet to be harmful.
