At the Marché du Film, the European Audiovisual Observatory (EAO) presented its annual analysis of the film sector, with Martin Kanzler, Nicolas Edmery, and Elisa Joliveau-Breney outlining the key trends. Global cinema attendance fell by 28% compared to the pre-COVID era to 5 billion in 2025, while Europe specifically lost 5% compared to 2024. American films still dominate Europe, although films such as Pablo Larraín's *Maria* and *Flow* managed to reach cross-border audiences. Europe is now producing more films than before the pandemic, with Spain becoming the frontrunner with over 420 productions, whereas US production fell back to 72% of pre-pandemic levels.
