Mecal Pro Barcelona celebrates its 28th edition in 2026 with a notable Dutch presence, with Dutch projects selected in multiple competitions as well as in a special Dutch Focus program created in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy, Go Short, and the Netherlands Film Academy. Quenton Miller's Koki, Ciao has been included in the documentary competition, while the animation competition features three Dutch short films, including Murmuration by Janneke Swinkels and Tim Frijsinger and Thunderhead by Una Jongenelis, which had its world premiere at IFFR earlier this year. The Dutch Focus program also includes a retrospective, an Artist in Focus series dedicated to Victoria Warmerdam, and selections from Go Short and the Netherlands Film Academy.
