Ukrainian filmmaker Helena Maksyom set herself personal goals in early 2022, but the Russian invasion radically changed her life, leading her to volunteer and become an officer in the Ukrainian army. Her documentary Don't Ask Me If I Killed, which premieres on June 8 at DocuDays in Kyiv, follows her experiences as the only woman in her unit, while the death of her 20-year-old comrade Artem prompted her to film. Producer Renko Douze of *Een van de jongens* is co-producing the film with Adrian Pirvu, Yasmin C. Rams, and Jeanne Maksymenko-Dovhych, with approximately half of the budget coming from the Netherlands.
