When Jade, a young mother from London, is discharged from hospital, the doctors are happy with her progress. But can she ever be happy again? After an acid attack by her ex, she will have to live with scars on her neck, chest, arms and part of her face. The burns may heal, but the scars remain. Dirty God received four nominations at the 2019 British Independent Film Awards. It was selected to be screened in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, this is the first time in history a movie from a Dutch director has been selected. The film also won three Golden Calves for best film, best director (Sascha Polak) and best music (Rutger Reinders).
