The Oat Milk Girl is a short contemporary drama set in youth culture, in which Luna, a young woman, desperately strives for the ideal image of success and therefore leads a life full of lies under social pressure. While she hides her true self, she discovers that the facade she has built can no longer be maintained.

The Oatmeal Girl follows Luna, a 20-year-old woman caught in the modern youth culture, where the pressure for perfection is ever increasing. On the outside, her life seems carefree: she has a close circle of friends, works in a trendy café and always exudes cheerfulness. However, underneath this facade, she struggles with the enormous pressure to perform, both academically and socially, which forces her to live a life of lies. Luna hides her real grades from friends and family, leading to feelings of stress and isolation.
The story unfolds in a contemporary setting where society’s expectations keep Luna in a vicious cycle of self-deception and fear. Flashbacks reveal her struggles and the moments of joy that are increasingly out of sight. During a surprise party in honor of her “success,” the truth comes out, forcing Luna to confront her lies. This confrontational moment offers her the chance to break through the facade she has built and reconnect with her friends and family.

The film is a poignant reflection on the mental pressures many young people face, and calls for an honest conversation about the reality behind the smile. The Oatmeal Girl reminds us that behind every apparent perfection, there is often a complex story.
This project concerns a low-budget film production set up by five students from Inholland University of Applied Sciences.

We are currently looking for:
- The main actress Luna. She is around 20 years old.
- The young version of the main character Luna. She is around 8 years old.
- Luna's father. He's around 50.
- A good friend of Luna. She is around the same age as Luna, so around 20. (Supporting role)
- Luna's mother. She is around the same age as Luna's father, so around 50. (Supporting role)
- Luna's girlfriend around 20 years old as a supporting role. (Extra, but prominently in the picture)
- Extras for a cafe.
- Extras for a museum.

Periode
De opnames zullen plaats vinden rond de midden december. Verdere data volgt.
