Casting Call for “What Lies Deep”!

For a coming-of-age/LGBTQ+ fiction film we are looking for talented actresses to fill the following roles.

Logline:
When two friends sneak into a swimming pool at night, banter and awkward silences turn into an unexpected journey to the core of their feelings.

In "Wat Diep Ligt" the word saudade is central: the deep, melancholic longing for connection, freedom and understanding, both of yourself and of another. The aim is to tell an intimate story in which two young women, each with their own insecurities and desires, discover what it means to break free from old patterns and find the strength to embrace the unknown. The film captures those vulnerable moments in which the unspoken weighs as much as the words, and shows how small acts of courage and rebellion can fill the void with meaning.

Characters:

Veraine (V, Lead, 18-23):
Veraine is sensitive and responsible, with a strong need to please others. Her insecurities and fear of making mistakes make her reserved in new situations. But once she feels comfortable, her soft, romantic and empathetic side comes to the fore. Her recent discovery of her bisexuality and feelings for Yara bring her into an inner struggle, but also open doors to personal growth.

Yara (V, Lead, 18-23):
Yara is impulsive, rebellious and lives for chaos. She loves spontaneous adventures and rebels against any form of authority. Her unique style, inspired by the underground scene, exudes both daring and effortless flair. Behind her unpredictable and challenging attitude lies a complex past that gives her character extra depth.
