I'm looking for a filming location for a fantastic new Dutch film project based on a true story. We're looking for a somewhat older school building (with a 70s, 80s, or 90s feel).
We have 9 actors and 10 extras on location, as well as a cameraman, sound engineer, and myself as director/producer. We need the location for 1-2 days (weekends when the school is closed). We're looking for a free location in exchange for incentives such as promotion.
The story:
Black Before My Eyes is a film about resilience, rejection, and self-acceptance. It's about Fien, a girl who is different. Special. She lives with MCDD, a complex form of autism that sometimes overwhelms her thoughts like a storm. In the late 1990s, after a traumatic event, Fien is admitted to a youth care facility. What follows is no standard coming-of-age story—this is the raw, tender, artistic portrait of a child searching for a place in a world that doesn't always understand her. She encounters rejection. Bullying. But also unexpected friendship. Through different time periods, we follow Fien's life—her struggle to be herself, to be seen, to find light in the darkness despite her "extra baggage." Sometimes poignant, sometimes moving, and sometimes with a touch of humor that makes her unique. Why this film? Because there are so many children and adults like Fien—people with brains that work differently, who don't fit the standard mold. This film gives them a face, a voice, a story. It's an ode to the outsider. A mirror for a society that still struggles with "different." Your help makes this possible.
We need the school for a partial filming of a so-called residential complex where Fien stayed (which resembled a school) and for the actual school Fien attended. Of course, the actual locations have long since been demolished. We want to film this true story in a school building. We won't touch anything and will only use our own equipment.
