The story centres around Tish, a talented but insecure photographer who’s preparing for a major exhibition. After an unexpected setback with a model, she’s forced to turn the camera on herself and confront her internal struggles through self-portraiture. Throughout the film, her reflection is shown wearing a symbolic mask representing her self-doubt and emotional facade.
The mask cracks as her confidence deteriorates, the crack will appear directly on her skin. This would allow for a more intimate and subtle visual metaphor. The idea is that the crack would gradually grow and deepen as Tish faces mounting internal and external adversity, representing her unraveling sense of self and the increasing pressure she’s under.
Rather than a dramatic shattering moment, the crack should evolve continuously reflecting a slow erosion of confidence. Then, in the final act, as Tish overcomes her self-doubt and embraces her identity, she discards the mask (or the crack fades/disappears), visually marking her transformation.
