BITTER HONEY...

...is a short psychological drama/thriller, developed and directed by David Laurent, a second-year student at the Netherlands Film Academy. The film draws on personal experience and explores how trauma can distort our perception of love, intimacy, and control.

The story follows Olivier, a theater director suffering from complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). In an attempt to understand his inner chaos, he creates a theatrical performance based on the structure of a beehive: worker, queen, drone. Parallel to this artistic process, the film follows his therapy sessions, during which it gradually becomes clear that Olivier is projecting his feelings of abandonment and fear onto his current marriage.

When he begins to distrust his husband and subconsciously perceives a young player as a threat, dreams, memories, and reality blur. Olivier increasingly grasps for control, resulting not only in a strain on his relationship but also in a threat to the safety of others. The film deliberately chooses not to explain or resolve behavior, but to focus on the sense of trauma.

Omschrijving
For this production, we are looking for an (executive) producer who wants to be part of the learning and production process and will be responsible for the production and business aspects of the project (along with three other producers from the Netherlands Film Academy).

The role involves close collaboration with the director and content producer. There's room for personal input and development within the role.

• Pre-productie: januari – april
• Draai-periode: mei (of eerder in overleg)
• Post-productie: in overleg na draaiperiode
