Filmmaker gezocht: beklijvende docu over Europa in transitie

For my graduation project in Journalism, I am currently developing a short documentary about what I see as a decisive turning point for the future of the European Union. A story that unfolds at the intersection of geopolitics, power, identity, and communication.

What makes this project special is the combination of substantive access and the ambition in form. I have interviews lined up with Sophie in 't Veld and Reinier van Lanschot, among others. Voices that each reflect on Europe in transition from their own position. These conversations form the backbone of the film.

The ambition is to create a distinctive, cinematic documentary of approximately 30 minutes that allows room for experimentation in rhythm, visual language, and narrative. A project that is specifically suited for exploration and deepening within a study program, and possibly also for use as portfolio work.

The shootings are expected to take place in the Randstad and in Brussels, around the end of April and in May.

I think it is a great opportunity for students to work on a substantively strong project with relevant access and creative freedom in its execution.

What I am looking for is (a) filmmaker(s) (student) with a distinct cinematographic vision, who not only want to help with shooting but also want to contribute ideas regarding the form: how do we make a documentary that not only informs but also leaves a lasting visual impression? How do you translate abstract geopolitical shifts into images that resonate?

I would therefore like to get in touch with (a) student (or students) for whom this resonates.

Functie eisen / profiel
Je filmt minimaal drie interviews en aanvullende stand-ups op locatie (Randstad en mogelijk Brussel), en denkt actief mee over de visuele vertaling van het verhaal: van shotkeuzes tot sfeer en beeldopbouw. Daarnaast is er ruimte om (in overleg) betrokken te zijn bij de montage, al wil ik de eindedit ook zelf verzorgen.

Wat bieden wij?
