Student film casting call

As a group of students at the Graphic Lyceum Utrecht, we were given the opportunity to make a short film.
And for this, we have come up with what we consider to be a very fun and interesting concept.

The major themes in our story are obsession and the relationship between father and daughter.

synopsis
Faye Schiphorst, a determined 21-year-old aspiring musical performer,
She rushes to a life-changing audition at the theater while clashing with her disapproving father, who believes she has thrown away a promising career in medicine for an impossible dream.
As they drive to the theater, the tension between them rises.
Faye clings to her passion for the stage, while her father struggles to understand the risks she takes.

During the audition, Faye gives her all in her best performance, convinced that this moment will justify everything she has sacrificed. But the jury interrupts her before she can finish and sends her away with a
A few harsh words: she is simply not what they are looking for.


The rejection shatters her self-confidence.
The story returns to the image with which the film began: Faye standing alone on a bridge, staring into the darkness below. What initially seemed like a distant possibility now feels terrifyingly real. As she whispers an apology to her father, the film cuts away, leaving the audience uncertain about what happens next.
Moments later, a car drives towards the empty bridge. Footsteps hurry to the railing. A solitary silhouette appears in the frame.
Whether it is too late, or just in time, remains unknown.

Male actor between 40 and 55 years old.

who could play the role of the father, we see the character as a single father who comes across as grumpy but would actually do anything for his children. In this story, he sees how his daughter is falling apart due to the continuous rejections associated with her career choices, and he wants so badly to protect her from this pain.


We are also looking for a female actor aged between 20 and 30.
Doesn't have to be a trained singer, but someone who dares to sing in front of the camera.

This character is a woman with only one goal in mind: to break into the theater industry.
What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into a pure obsession.
Her false self-confidence, which sometimes comes across as cold, overshadows the underlying insecurity.
Her biggest fear is not being good enough.
