Logline:A reality rewritten, where change is no longer inevitable.

Synopsis
Margins of the Inevitable follows Mikey, a witty and imaginative boy navigating the seemingly unavoidable divorce of his parents. Obsessed with order and routine, he clings to familiar habits to stay calm. His mysterious lifelong imaginary friend, Everett, who has the appearance of an adventurous businessman, offers him a notebook that promises a way to restore the love between his parents by rewriting their memories. Desperate, Mikey revisits painful memories of their conflicts and rewrites them into moments of warmth and positivity. Soon, reality shifts into a picture perfect family life, but something feels deeply wrong. His parents act hollow, and Everett is regarded as real, even acknowledged as their other son. Mikey realizes he has lost his flawed but genuine parents, and must undo what he has written and sever his tie with Everett.

We are searching for a:

Teenager: Mikey male acting age (13-17 years old) leading role
Everett: Villain age 17-24
Mom /Melanie acting age 40-45
Dad /Adrian acting age 39-42

Mikey
Mikey is a sensitive and imaginative teenager who uses creativity and fantasy as a safe escape from an overwhelming reality. After briefly finding connection and belonging through friendships, he struggles as those relationships fade and his fear of change intensifies. Now withdrawn and guarded, he clings to the past while quietly struggling to face the emotions and reality he fears.

Everett
Everett is a thousand-year-old entity from a dimension of complete isolation, whose immense power cannot fill his deep loneliness. After centuries of drifting through realities to escape his emptiness, he becomes fascinated by human connection when he discovers Earth. Drawn to the bond between people, he takes the form of Mikey’s imaginary friend in a fragile attempt to finally experience belonging and love.

Mom / Adrian
Melanie is a driven workaholic mom who defines herself through ambition and providing for her family, expressing love through responsibility rather than emotional presence. As her career takes over, she begins to realize that her belief she’s doing everything for them is creating a growing emotional distance she can no longer ignore.

Dad / Adrian
Adrian is a caring and emotionally present father who values connection and stability, but feels increasingly excluded as his family grows more distant. His intensity and rigid communication style, driven by his desire to reconnect, unintentionally deepen misunderstandings, leaving him feeling powerless despite his deep love for them.

Margins of the Inevitable is a coming-of-age supernatural thriller about a young boy trying to cope with his parents’ divorce by rewriting their memories, only to discover that a perfect reality can become deeply unsettling.

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about storytelling and excited to help bring an emotionally layered and visually stylized short film to life.
