Elise Schaap plays the lead role in the new six-part drama series 'De Machine', which will be available on BNNVARA on NPO Start in the spring of 2027. The series tells the story of the unstoppable growth of Booking.com: from a student start-up in Twente to one of the most powerful internet companies in the world.

Schaap plays the role of one of the Booking CEOs who appear in the series. The company is growing explosively and is increasingly pushing against its own limits. What does that demand of leadership? And how do you maintain a human touch when your previously manageable little internet company grows into a gigantic machine? Other roles in 'De Machine' are played by Gijs Naber, Jacob Derwig, Steef de Bot, Quelin Sepulveda, Ntianu Stuger, and Jamie Bamber, among others.

'De Machine' is a dramatized adaptation of the journalistic book of the same name by Stijn Bronzwaer, Joris Kooiman, and Merijn Rengers. The screenplay was written by Daan Windhorst, Nasja Covers, and Michiel van Jaarsveld. Van Jaarsveld ('Het Jaar van Fortuyn', 'Penoza') is directing.
