I am looking for crew for the short film BETWEEN GLANCES (Dutch fiction-drama)! (Short term)
Filming period around June 1-7

We will be filming the film over approximately three days. It would be helpful if you already have some experience, so that we can shoot the film more easily.

Story: In the film, we follow the journey of the main character, Omar. He has recently arrived in the Netherlands and is trying to find his way in bustling Amsterdam. On his way to school, he encounters many people, yet he makes genuine contact with no one. This film explores the intersection of digitalization, social cohesion, and integration in contemporary society. To what extent is simple interaction still possible in a time of isolation?

The film was commissioned by my Creative Business program, which is collaborating with NPO 3 Lab this semester. I am in my second year and will be directing for the first time. With this assignment, NPO 3 Lab, in collaboration with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, encourages young makers to have a short film developed, written, and produced within a short period.

The aim of the film is to make people reflect on how the digitalization of our society influences the integration process of newcomers in the Netherlands. Generally, they fall outside the bubble, not only offline but also online. The story is not tragic, but shows the strength of the character Omar, who refuses to be defined by current society. He goes through daily life with ease without a phone. Who are the real victims of the current system? And what can we learn from Omar?

Functie eisen / profiel
Vrijwel alle departments zijn nog incompleet. Voor deze film doe ik de regie en gedeeltelijk de productie. Ik zoek crew die het leuk lijkt om bij te dragen aan een film met een maatschappelijke boodschap en waar je ook de ruimte krijgt om te experimenteren. :)

Goed om te weten:
- Stijl
BETWEEN GLANCES wordt een intieme film met close-ups en wides. Je krijgt een nostalgisch gevoel aan het begin, maar zodra Omar (hoofdpersonage) zich verplaatst van het voetbalveld naar het metronetwerk veranderd de sfeer naar koel. Er is ruimte voor eigen invulling! Verder houd ik de shots liever simpel i.v.m. tijd.
- Tijd
De periode waarin de film zich ongeveer afspeelt is rond begin september. De kleding van Zara mag redelijk stoer zijn. Dat van Omar is meer basic en neigt naar sportief.
- Geluid
Er zit vrijwel geen tot weinig dialoog. Voor geluid is het fijn om de omgevingsgeluiden goed om te nemen. De eerste scene zal plaatsvinden bij een voetbalveld, waar de bal word getrapt, kinderen lachen en rennen. De rest zal worden opgenomen op de metro of pond. De stadse geluiden zijn significant voor deze film.
