One take experimental student film

This short film is an experiment in improvisation, duration, and collective authorship. Developed within a self-defined framework loosely inspired by Dogme 95, the project uses technical limitations to strip filmmaking down to presence, interaction, and situation.

The film will be shot in one continuous take using a handheld cellphone camera, with a minimal production setup and little separation between performers, camera, and environment.

Rather than working from a fixed script and traditional casting structure, the project is built through a devising process. Dialogue, actions, and situations will partly emerge through collaboration between the performers and the director prior to shooting. The process borrows more from performance art and theatre-making than conventional filmmaking.

The film is interested in repetition, awkwardness, humour, failure, tension, and spontaneity. It prioritises presence over perfection.

Periode
The project will involve:

One half-day for devising/rehearsal
One half-day for filming

Planned for early May in Amsterdam.

This is an unpaid, passion-driven project.

What we can offer is a collaborative and experimental process where performers actively influence the final work. The project aims to create a space to test ideas, take risks, and work outside conventional film production structures.

You do not need to arrive with a polished performance, curiosity and willingness are more important.
