Editor gezocht afstudeerfilm FERAL

FERAL is a psychological thriller/drama (graduation film). The film is set in a seemingly recognizable and quiet Dutch residential neighborhood. We follow Sanne, an oppressed mother trapped in a stifling and controlling family situation created by her partner, Jan. Gradually, Sanne discovers that Jan lies about everything and is completely losing control. The story builds to an intense climax in which Sanne must overcome her fear to protect her severely neglected and confined daughter.

The film employs a unique stylistic device: a large part of the film is shot from a low, restless point-of-view perspective. As a result, the viewer is left under the impression for a long time that the family has a dog in the house, until the shocking reality about their daughter becomes clear in the climax.

I am looking for a driven Head Editor who wants to take the film to the next level together with me (and in close collaboration with the sound designer and composer). The editing is crucial for this project: pacing information, guiding the viewer toward the plot twist, and building the underlying psychological tension depend entirely on the rhythm of the edit.

Periode
De periode is zo snel mogelijk tot uiterlijk 30 juni 2026. De definitieve deadline staat vast vanwege de eindviewing op school. Omdat we een nauwe synergie willen tussen beeld en geluid, moet de picture lock ruim voor die tijd staan, zodat er voldoende tijd overblijft om samen te zitten met de componist en sounddesigner.

Functie eisen / profiel
Je hebt aantoonbare ervaring met het monteren van (fictie)films en weet hoe je een professionele edit moet neerzetten.

Je hebt gevoel voor timing, ritme en psychologische spanningsopbouw (het zorgvuldig 'feden' van informatie aan de kijker).

Je kunt werken binnen een strakke tijdrestrictie: de film mag maximaal +- 15 minuten lang worden.

Ervaring met het monteren van wisselende perspectieven (handheld, POV vs. statisch objectief) is een grote pré.
