In The Dead Of Night

In the wake of a violent crime, a young man arrives at an underground nightclub trying to reach the friends he believes are inside. At the door, he is stopped by a bouncer who refuses to let him in - not aggressively, but with calm, impossible logic. As the night unfolds, the rules become increasingly vague, the young man is repeatedly denied entrance and the realisation of what happened before dawns on him.
"In The Dead Of The Night" - is a contained, dialogue-driven short film blending psychological tension, dry humor, and neo-noir atmosphere.

Possible Roles:
YOUNG MAN - Male, white, mid-to-late 20s, medium height/build, intelligent, tense, awkwardly polite, and increasingly desperate to keep control of the situation. The character should feel grounded and human rather than overtly theatrical - someone caught in a situation that becomes stranger and more psychologically complex the longer it continues.
Performance references: Benjamin Braddock from The Graduate, Paul Hackett from After Hours, Kafka protagonists (The Trial, The Castle).
Requirements: Comfortable with dialogue-heavy scenes; Ability to convey psychological tension and internal conflict; Subtle comedic ability and naturalistic timing.

BOUNCER -Male, 30s–50s, tall, strong build, physically imposing. Bouncer is calm, unreadable, oddly polite, and quietly intimidating. He speaks with absolute certainty, never raising his voice. The character should feel simultaneously comic and threatening.
Requirements: Strong screen presence; Dry comedic timing; Ability to perform restrained, Controlled dialogue

Shooting will take place on the 8th of June at the SAE Institute Amsterdam(Amsterdam Noord).

We offer lead roles in a dialogue-driven psychological short film and an opportunity to gain experience on an independent student production. Actors will receive material for their portfolio/showreel. Catering will be provided during the shoot, and travel expenses may be partially covered
