The film follows the people living in Djenné (Mali) in the preparations of the plaster of the mosque in town. A story about a century old tradition told in the storyline of the tale of a Malian legend.

Many young West Africans try to find a better life in Europe and leave their country. Some Africans realize happiness cannot be found in a foreign country. Salah is one of them. In a close portrait we see Salah, who lives in Bamako (Mali), working as a tourist guide and becoming a modern man. When he comes home he has to demonstrate his family he is still one of them.
