Composer, pianist, journalist, producer and director of the company Atelier Cultural since 1998, Marcos Souza started his career as a musician at the age of 16, when he paid a tribute to his father, Francisco Mário, a great Brazilian musician, at the João Caetano's Theatre, in Rio de Janeiro. In 2007 begins to coordinate the promotion and marketing department of La Central Digital, the biggest independent content aggregator in Spain, with a Multi-Content (music and audiovisual) and Multi-Format (for the various Business Models) offer, providing online distribution services to production companies, record labels and self-producers, for their catalogs to be commercialized and promoted on the largest and best Digital Stores on the Net. His fifth CD, Marcos Souza, was released in 2004, and was his first solo work and the soundtrack of the film-documentary Evandro Teixeira, Instantâneos da Realidade. In 2005, he released another soundtrack CD, Chapada Diamantina, about the film Brilhante from the Director Conceição Senna. In 2002, he was Artistic Coordinator for the record company Rob Digital, and later for Lua Discos/MCD, both in Rio de Janeiro. Since 2000, Marcos has been working together with the Brazilian Institution Sesc – Rio in projects of instrumental music. More than 300 important names of the Brazilian music have played in his project. In 2005, he started to produce a Festival of World Music in Rio de Janeiro with Sesc –Rio, the Rio Sesc Internacional, with Brazilian musicians, whom played together with international musicians, such as: Abbdullah Chaddeh, from Syria; Ron Carter, from USA, and Hermeto Pascoal, Brazil; Rao Kyao and Pedro Joia, from Portugal. In 2006, this project continues with Laura Fygi, from the Netherlands; Larry Carlton, USA; Toninho Horta, from Brazil, with Rudi Berger, from Austria; and Jacques Morelembaum, from Brazil, with Ernst Reijsiger from the Netherlands.
In 2005, he conceived and produced the film Três Irmãos de Sangue (3 Blood Brothers), directed by Ângela Patrícia Reiniger, from the production NO AR. In 2006 produced the short film “In the Flute”.
